We do not treat a mole or lesion that is suspected to be cancerous, changing, irregular, unusually pigmented, bleeding without explanation or otherwise uncertain. In those circumstances we will advise an appropriate assessment through your GP, dermatologist or our Map My Mole consultant-review pathway before any CryoPen treatment is considered.
From assessment to healing
How CryoPen Skin Tag Treatment Works
CryoPen delivers a controlled jet of nitrous oxide to rapidly freeze suitable target tissue. The treated tissue then changes and heals gradually; it is not physically cut away during the appointment.

For £20, we review the lesion, its history, location, size, your skin and any relevant health information.

Suitability Decision
If the lesion is uncertain or outside our treatment scope, we do not freeze it and explain the appropriate next step.

Targeted Treatment
For a suitable lesion, CryoPen is applied in a controlled way while limiting unnecessary contact with surrounding skin.

Immediate Response
A brief cold sting, redness, swelling or whitening can occur immediately after treatment.

Natural Healing
The area may darken, blister or form a small crust before gradually settling. Do not pick the treated tissue.

Review if Required
Some lesions respond after one treatment; larger, thicker or resistant lesions may require another assessment and session.

Follow the individual advice provided at your appointment. Healing varies with lesion type, depth, location, skin response and the amount of tissue treated.

Prepare the Area
- Arrive with the area clean and free from makeup, fake tan and heavy products
- Do not pick, cut, tie off or irritate the lesion before your appointment
- Tell us about medication, allergies, circulation concerns, healing problems or health changes
- Bring any previous medical opinion if the lesion has already been assessed
- Send a clear photograph first if you are unsure whether to book
After treatment
Support Healing
- Keep the area clean and avoid rubbing, scratching or picking
- Do not deliberately burst blisters or remove crusts
- Avoid friction, swimming, hot tubs, saunas and excessive heat while the area is vulnerable
- Use sun protection once the skin has healed if the area is exposed
- Contact the clinic if pain, redness, heat, swelling or discharge is worsening

What is CryoPen?⌄
CryoPen is a cryotherapy device that delivers a controlled jet of nitrous oxide to freeze suitable target tissue. The treated tissue then heals gradually over the following days or weeks.
Can every skin tag be treated?⌄
No. Suitability depends on whether the lesion is clearly appropriate for treatment, as well as its history, size, location, your skin and relevant health factors. We do not treat uncertain or suspicious lesions.
Does CryoPen skin tag treatment hurt?⌄
Most clients describe a brief cold sting, pinching or burning sensation. Discomfort varies with the area, lesion and individual sensitivity, and tenderness may continue after treatment.
How many sessions will I need?⌄
Some small skin tags respond after one treatment. Larger, thicker or resistant lesions and warts or verrucas may require another assessment and further treatment. Complete clearance cannot be guaranteed.
What happens while the area heals?⌄
Redness, swelling, tenderness, whitening, darkening, blistering or a small crust can occur. The treated tissue should be allowed to heal naturally without picking, cutting or deliberately bursting blisters.
Can CryoPen cause scarring or pigment change?⌄
Yes. Scarring and temporary or lasting lightening or darkening of the skin are recognised risks, although they are not expected in every case. Suitability, conservative treatment and careful aftercare are important.
Can you treat multiple skin tags in one appointment?⌄
Often yes, provided each lesion is suitable and the number, locations and overall treatment time remain appropriate. A quotation is provided after assessment.
Can darker skin tones have CryoPen treatment?⌄
Treatment may be possible, but cryotherapy can cause light or dark pigment changes in any skin and this risk can be more significant in some skin tones. Individual assessment and realistic risk discussion are essential.
Do you treat moles with CryoPen?⌄
Pulsar can treat suitable benign moles with CryoPen following assessment. We do not treat suspected cancerous, suspicious, changing or uncertain moles. These require an appropriate medical or consultant-review pathway before CryoPen treatment is considered.
How much does skin tag removal cost?⌄
The consultation and suitability check costs £20. Suitable single-lesion treatments start from £75, and treatment for three suitable areas starts from £120. Larger or more complex treatment plans are quoted after assessment.
