Freckle & Pigmentation Removal

Advanced treatment using the Asclepion NanoStar Y

Assessment-led laser treatment for suitable freckles, sun spots, age spots and selected areas of uneven pigmentation at our Chorley clinic.

Pigmentation has many possible causes and not every brown mark should be treated cosmetically. We identify the type of concern, assess your skin and review its history before deciding whether NanoStar Y treatment is appropriate.

Understand the concern first

Pigmentation We Can Assess

Suitability depends on the cause, appearance, depth and history of the pigmentation—not simply whether a mark looks brown.

Common concern

Freckles & Sun Spots

NanoStar Y can be considered for suitable benign freckles and sun-related spots after assessment. Treatment aims to break up selected pigment so the area can gradually clear or lighten.

Age Spots & Lentigines

Suitable solar lentigines and age-related pigmented spots may respond to targeted laser treatment. Each area must be checked before treatment to rule out unsuitable lesions.

Uneven & Post-Inflammatory Pigmentation

Pigmentation left after inflammation, acne or injury requires cautious assessment. Some concerns may be suitable for treatment, while others carry a higher risk of becoming darker after irritation.

German-engineered active nanosecond technology

How NanoStar Y Targets Suitable Pigmentation

The Asclepion NanoStar Y is a German-engineered Q-switched Nd:YAG laser with 1064 nm and 532 nm wavelengths. Its short nanosecond pulses are selectively absorbed by suitable pigment, creating a photoacoustic effect that fragments pigment particles.

The treated pigment may initially whiten, darken or form light crusting before gradually clearing. Wavelength, spot size and energy are selected according to the pigment, skin type and patch-test response.

  • Targeted treatment for suitable benign pigmentation
  • 1064 nm and 532 nm treatment options
  • Consultation and patch testing before a full treatment
  • Clear sun-protection, aftercare and review guidance
Important: new, changing, bleeding, irregular or otherwise concerning pigmented lesions must be medically assessed. Cosmetic laser treatment is not a diagnostic service.

Your treatment journey

From Assessment to Review

Every plan begins by identifying the type, depth and history of the pigmentation and confirming whether cosmetic laser treatment is appropriate.

Consultation

We discuss the concern, its history, previous treatment, medication, sun exposure and your goals.

Skin Assessment

We identify what is present, assess your skin type and confirm whether cosmetic treatment is appropriate.

Patch Test & Plan

Where required, we patch test and explain the proposed treatment, course options, costs, risks and aftercare.

Treatment & Review

Progress is reviewed between sessions and the plan is adjusted according to your skin’s response.

Assessment-led treatment

Not Every Pigmentation Concern Is the Same

Freckles and sun spots

Small, flat benign freckles and sun-related spots may be suitable for targeted treatment after their appearance and history have been assessed.

Post-inflammatory pigmentation

Dark marks after acne, injury or irritation may be more reactive. Treatment is considered carefully because further inflammation can sometimes deepen pigmentation.

Melasma and hormonal pigmentation

Melasma can be recurrent and sensitive to heat, hormones and sunlight. It is not treated as a straightforward freckle-removal concern and may require another management pathway.

Moles and unclear lesions

Moles and lesions that are new, changing, irregular, bleeding or unclear are not treated cosmetically without appropriate medical assessment or imaging.

Freckle & Pigmentation FAQs

What pigmentation can NanoStar Y treat?

Following assessment, NanoStar Y may be suitable for selected benign freckles, sun spots, age spots and other localised pigmentation concerns. Suitability depends on the type, depth, history and skin type.

How does NanoStar Y remove pigmentation?

Short nanosecond laser pulses are absorbed by suitable pigment and create a photoacoustic effect that fragments pigment particles. The treated pigment is then gradually cleared through the skin and normal body processes.

Can you remove all pigmentation completely?

No. Some concerns may clear substantially while others only lighten or return over time. Results depend on the cause and depth of the pigment, skin type, sun exposure and individual response.

Can you treat melasma?

Melasma is different from an isolated freckle or sun spot and can worsen after heat or inflammation. It requires careful assessment and may not be suitable for NanoStar Y treatment.

Can you laser a mole?

We do not treat an unclear, changing or suspicious mole as cosmetic pigmentation. Mole imaging or medical assessment may be recommended before any cosmetic treatment is considered.

Do I need a consultation and patch test?

Yes. We assess the concern, its history, your skin type, medication, sun exposure and risk of unwanted pigment change. A patch test may be required.

What happens after pigmentation treatment?

The area may temporarily whiten, redden or darken, and light crusting can occur. Do not pick the area. Follow the aftercare guidance and protect it carefully from sunlight.

How many sessions will I need?

Session numbers vary. Some superficial spots may respond quickly, while deeper or more complex pigmentation can require a course. Progress is reviewed before further treatment.

Can pigmentation return?

Yes. Sun exposure, hormones, inflammation and the underlying cause can create new or recurrent pigmentation. Consistent sun protection remains important after treatment.
